First Successful Maple Syrup Production Run

Green Nubble Farm today announced its first successful production run of maple syrup sourced from its fledging sugar bush. The farm is currently tapping 3 sugar maple trees with four taps.

Despite colder than normal daytime temperatures, sufficient sap was collected over the past week to allow a semi-production boil down this past Sunday. This first production run yielded three pints of high grade maple syrup. Sap collection continues with a second processing boil planned for Sunday,April 2,2011. An initial pre-production trial conducted on March 20,while unsuccessful, provided critical process information that contributed to this successful first production.
